      What is Ovarian cancer ?

Ovarian Cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the ovaries, which are part of the female reproductive system. The ovaries are responsible for producing eggs (ova) and the hormones estrogen and progesterone.

Ovarian cancer typically arises from three main types of cells in the ovaries:

      1. Epithelial cells: These cover the outer surface of the ovary and are the most common source of ovarian cancers.
      2. Germ cells: These produce the eggs and can lead to germ cell tumors.
      3. Stromal cells: These form the supportive tissue of the ovary and produce hormones.
